ABOUT THE AUTHOR
VINCENT SEBASTIAN Ph.D
Dr. Vincent Sebastian is an innovative music producer, percussionist, DJ, ethnomusicologist, and speaker. He founded the music group Oyobi, and runs The Nest, a music production and recording studio in inner city Sydney. Spending his career studying and participating in the music and rhythms of his Latin heritage, Vincent now uses these deep experiences to produce powerful performances, innovative music production, and ground-breaking ethnomusicological research with his team of musician, producers, and acclaimed creatives.
Vincent holds a Bachelor of Psychology, Bachelor of Sound design and Music, and a Ph.D (Music). His Ph.D research explored Cuban percussion and religious ritual music, it’s spiritual role in facilitating psychological healing, and it’s development into emerging electronic music sub-genres. Vincent integrates this expertise into his music creations, performances, talks, books, courses, and workshops, providing a unique and innovative approach to music creation and performance.
His extensive career includes performances in Australia and abroad at major festivals including: Bluesfest, Woodford, Womadelaide, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Vivid, Opera House, Rainforest Festival (Malaysia), Bogota Festival De Teatro (Colombia), Ulsan Festival (Korea), Osaka Kokolo Festival (Japan), NOMA (thailand), and Ku De Ta (Indonesia).
